Lighting Design Project
Revit / Enscape / InDesign
Project assigned by Suzan Tillotson, Certified Lighting Designer and Founder of Tillotson Design Associates in New York City.
CONCEPT
To create a new lighting design concept for specific areas within the Museum of Modern Art in New York. My Design Intent was not only to provide the MoMA with proper everyday lighting, but to also create a story that immerses guests into a new "Modern Art Universe." Featured at both entrances of the building, guests experience a "gravitational pull" using lighting design tactics that may suggest the idea of entering a new dimension. Different selections of lighting are chosen to differentiate the spaces of focus: the entry areas, ticket area, main stairway, and the gift shop area. The neon lighting design featured in the gift shop, known as the basement area, is meant to draw the eye from the exterior and interior of the building and demonstrate the idea of entering yet another dimension. The main stairs feature neon lighting along the glass railings all the way up to the fifth floor, as each floor may demonstrate a new depth in the "Modern Art Universe."
